This guide is general education that summarizes published research and guidance from groups like the American Academy of Pediatrics, the CDC, and the WHO. It isn’t medical advice, and every child develops on their own timeline. Your pediatrician knows your child; if something feels wrong, call them. In an emergency, call 911.

Thirteen weeks and six days: the last day of your third month. Today's task is a booking. Classes fill, dates clash, and the easiest time to find one is now, while the birth still feels theoretical.

## Your baby

Around now your baby is around 7.4cm long, about the size of a peach ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-13/)). Some babies suck their thumb in the womb, which helps develop the sucking reflex ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-13/)). That reflex is what feeding will run on, and feeding is one of the things a class teaches. The baby is already in training. Today you join them.

## Your body

Asking about antenatal classes is on the NHS's list for this week; it points to online ones, so distance and shift work aren't the barrier they used to be ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-13/)). MedlinePlus puts it as a question for your provider: talk to them about childbirth education classes for you and your partner ([MedlinePlus](https://medlineplus.gov/prenatalcare.html)). The NHS adds that classes are worth it even if you've had children before ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-17/)).

Meanwhile, the list of this week's possible signs is long: gums, headaches, nosebleeds, bloating, heartburn, leg cramps, feeling hot, dizziness, and earlier symptoms that may continue, including light spotting, for which the NHS says to seek advice ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-13/)). You won't have all of them. Most people have a few.

## Try today

### The class sign-up

- **Time:** 20 minutes

1. Ask your provider or midwife what's offered locally and what they'd recommend; MedlinePlus makes it a question for them ([MedlinePlus](https://medlineplus.gov/prenatalcare.html)).
2. If nothing nearby fits your hours, look online. The NHS's suggestion for this week is online classes ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-13/)).
3. Pick one. Not the best one; the one you'll actually attend.
4. Put the first date in both calendars, yours and your partner's, before you close the laptop.
5. Write one question you want answered by the end of it, and keep it with the booking.

**Make it work:** Second or third baby? The NHS still lists classes for you ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-17/)). Things change between babies, and so do you.

## Watch for

- **Normal:** light spotting, which the NHS lists among the earlier symptoms that may continue ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-13/)). **Call your provider** for any bleeding; the NHS says to seek advice ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-13/)).
- **Normal:** feeling hot, on this week's list ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-13/)). **Call your provider** as soon as you can for fever or chills ([OWH](https://womenshealth.gov/pregnancy/youre-pregnant-now-what/pregnancy-complications)).
- **Normal:** a long list of possible signs and only a few of them yours. **Call your provider** if you feel like something just isn't right, even if it isn't on any list ([CDC](https://www.cdc.gov/hearher/maternal-warning-signs/index.html)).

## For you

If you're the partner: the class is for you too. MedlinePlus says "for you and your partner" ([MedlinePlus](https://medlineplus.gov/prenatalcare.html)), and the NHS suggests inviting your partner along ([NHS](https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/pregnancy/week-by-week-guide-to-pregnancy/2nd-trimester/week-21/)). You'll be in the room at the birth; this is where you learn what to do there. Book the time off now.

That's your third month: the booking visit, the screening choices, the scan that set the date, the fish list, the first Kegels, and a trimester finished. Next month the bump starts to show, and the notes continue in [your fourth month of pregnancy](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-4).
