Privacy policy

Effective October 1, 2026. This policy describes how Chorevia processes account, household, and chore evidence information.

Information we process

We process names, usernames, email addresses or phone numbers where used, household membership and roles, and optional profile information supplied by you or a household administrator. Children can use a parent-managed username and PIN without a personal email address or phone number. Passwords and PINs are stored as password hashes.

We store chore assignments, completion and approval records, adult feedback, recorded earnings, household credits, bills, and statements. Chorevia records household balances; it does not transfer money between bank accounts.

When you submit evidence, we receive your photos or videos and any audio you include. Camera permission supports capture; microphone permission is optional for video recording. Newly uploaded videos are processed to remove embedded source metadata. Photo capture timestamps may be retained separately after embedded metadata is stripped. We retain technical information such as upload time, file size, and duplicate-detection hashes.

We process session identifiers, IP addresses, device or browser request information, login events, and security/audit records to operate accounts, prevent abuse, and investigate failures.

Anyone can try a few Chorevia Play games from the home page without an account. To know when to invite a visitor to create a free account, the browser keeps one cookie (chorevia_play_tried) listing which games were opened; it is sent only to the Play pages, is kept for a year, and is not linked to any person or stored on our servers. Clearing cookies removes it. Signed-in play records a child's results in their household account instead.

How information is used and shared

We use information to provide account access, household permissions, chore review, earnings and bill records, and security. Authorized household members can see information according to their roles. Private evidence uses authenticated access and expiring links. Public household rankings are optional and aggregate household results; they do not publish children’s evidence.

The service uses Vercel for hosting and private media storage and Neon for its database. Resend and Twilio process email or phone information when the corresponding delivery services are enabled. If optional Anthropic photo review is enabled, chore information and submitted still images are sent for advisory analysis. Videos require adult review. The app does not include advertising or an advertising-tracking SDK.

Children and household access

Chorevia is designed for households with adult oversight. Adults manage child profiles, chore assignments, and approvals. Children cannot approve their own work. A parent or guardian can contact us about access, correction, or deletion of a child’s information. We verify authority before disclosing or changing another person’s information. Avoid including people or sensitive information unrelated to the chore in evidence.

Choices and retention

You can decline camera or microphone permission and change those permissions in your device settings. Signing out revokes your session; it does not delete your account or household records.

Account, household, financial, and submitted evidence records do not currently have an automatic expiry. They remain stored until removed through a supported deletion process. Security/audit records and provider backups may be retained separately. In the iPhone app, open Account and choose Delete my account to request permanent deletion of your account and associated personal data, including uploaded evidence and comments. You do not need to call or email us. We process requests within 30 days and provide a private status receipt that remains usable after deletion. Access stops when processing starts. Other family members keep their accounts and balances; shared records lose the deleted account’s identifying authorship. If a household owner leaves, another existing adult receives ownership. Household access is paused when only children remain until a verified guardian joins. You may also contact us about access, correction, or deletion, including a child’s information; we verify authority before acting on another person’s account. Backup copies are isolated from active use and age out under our service providers’ retention schedules; any restored backup must have completed deletions reapplied before service resumes. We do not treat disabling a login as deleting an account.
